What do you do with your expired or current airline membership cards?

I did start to wonder if I was mad hoarding all the new membership cards every year, until I got some inspiration from a few travellers at the airport proudly displaying their shiny baggage tags.

Normally I would take a picture of my card and store it on my phone, or use AwardWallet to keep a track of my membership numbers, since that's all any airport or hotel needs from you.

So this time I got out my Dremel and made my own baggage tag (of course not forgetting to drill out membership numbers and scratch off magnetic strips):

These are only the ones of the right colour...I still have over a hundred!

But I'm convinced there are brighter ideas out there, such as reprogramming the magnetic strips to open your garage door/change air conditioning settings / switch to your favourite TV channel.

  1. I would love to see a collage created from the cards. I have cards saved from when I was a pre-teen, and have a grand vision for them at some point. If you don’t bring them traveling with you.

It would be supremely awesome for an artist to create a picture for you out of all the various colors cut from different cards (the Wynn Las Vegas Red would be beautiful as some fiery eyes!)

That would be something I would be proud to frame and display.
