Triple Avios and Triple OnBusiness Points. Register now!

Two separate British Airways promotions are currently live, which should help some readers give a boost towards their next award tickets.

Firstly, Triple Avios on any British Airways flights up to a maximum of eight segments if booked and travelled before 11th December 2016. Bookings which were made before 00:01hrs on 6th September 2016 will unfortunately miss out on this this promotion. The link to sign up is here.

An unusual feature of this promotion is that it applies to all BA accounts regardless of where the address is registered, and that you can fly on any of the Transatlantic joint venture partners American Airlines, Iberia or Finnair. The main caveat is that you will need to be over 18 years old to be eligible.

As a reminder, here is what you get with each fare class.

Note that you are awarded triple of the BASE miles. BA's terms and conditions for this promotion are dreadfully written, but from my understanding your base miles are calculated as:

  • Q,O,G fares – 25% of miles flown. With this promotion you will get 75% of miles flown, subject to 125 Avios minimum. (so if you fly London to Manchester with a real distance of 151 miles, you would get 113 miles after trebling the base. Note as both scenarios are under the 125 minimum, you would still get 125 Avios in the promotion. This is one example of when NOT to put your BA number into your booking!)
  • K,L,M,N,S,V fares – 50% of miles flown. With this promotion you will get 150% of miles flown, subject to 250 Avios minimum.
  • All other fares, including all premium economy, business and first class – 100% of miles flown.

OnBusiness is also running a concurrent triple points promotion. You will get them for a maximum of 8 segments, up to 11th December 2016. (The same date as the above triple Avios promotion.)

If you register for both promotions, you will get triple points in both accounts! This has a fantastic earning potential if you are flying long haul in full-fare economy or higher tickets.

If you aren't already an OnBusiness member you can sign up here. You will need to be VAT registered if your business is in the UK, and probably a similar scenario if your business is registered outside the UK.

If you do register a new account, please include OB10602814 as the referral code, so I get a small bonus too. Thank you!
