Germany to USA Business Class for £942! Possibility to hit BA Silver (Oneworld Sapphire) in a single Tier Point run

There are some amazing business class fares ex-Germany right now priced at £949 which are quite frankly a steal. You need to book by 9th September 2019 though as I expect these fares will disappear even before that. The travel dates are quite narrow, centred around Thanksgiving 2019, Christmas 2019 and Easter 2020 but still workable.

You can depart from any of Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt or Hamburg and travel to Boston, New York, Philadelphia for around £950, or to Chicago for £1087.

British Airways Boeing 747

This is a prime candidate fare for one of my ‘mega' tier point runs. In theory Germany-Helsinki-London-New York just creeps into the 25% threshold of Maximum Permissible Mileage ticketing so in theory the following routing should be possible if you can find the availability:

Frankfurt – Helsinki – London – Boston- New York (= 5560 miles)

While the Maximum Permissible mileage for Frankfurt – New York is 3856 * 1.2 * 1.25 = 5784 miles, so the above routing is permitted. This would give exactly 600 Tier Points and you would hit all four of your qualifying flights if you book it all into BA code shares.

As the itineraries are quite complicated (relative to ‘normal' travellers) you will need to build the itinerary via the ‘multi-city' itineraries rather than one way or return. You can do this all on ba.com but also look at Low Fare Finder.

Hat tip, Head for Points.
