…plus Avios of course. You can book the £1 + Avios headline fare if you follow the new Reward Flight Saver fares published recently.
Given the (justified) fanfare of the arrival of the A350 and new Club Suites last month, one of the more esoteric but fantastic Avios redemptions you can make is between London and Madrid on the training flights the British Airways runs.
From 2nd September the current A350, G-XWBA, will be flying to Dubai. But their second A350 G-XWBB will be delivered soon too and there will be at least two return trips per day to Spain.
Head for Points notes that the new wave of training flights will run between 1st-7th October 2019 with the following flight times and numbers:
- 06.20 Heathrow – 09.20 Madrid (BA456)
- 10.55 Madrid – 12.15 Heathrow (BA457)
- 16.45 Heathrow – 20.05 Madrid (BA464)
- 21.20 Madrid – 22.25 Heathrow (BA465)
As every date in that window is off-peak too, your maximum cost will be 17750 Avios + 50p each way.
If you have never seen the Club Suite seats before, here was our world-exclusive Point-of-View live stream when it was introduced to the media.
Given the moderate possibility of aircraft swapping prior to the flight, it makes good sense to spend maximum Avios plus the £1 in order to buy yourself flexibility should this actually occur, as your losses will be limited to £1 and you can get a full refund of your Avios, so long as you cancel at least 24hrs before your flight.
Will you be taking advantage of this fare? I think I will!
